"Remember the GT40 with the "death-ray" in the Avengers?

"I asked Ronie Spain about that one, and I think he was unsure exactly which car it was, but he was going to research it!"

Is someone here sure exactly which car it was?

    Hi to Frank,
I have chased these cars for years, and have pictures of all types. They cut the roof off one to film the Steve Mcqueen movie Le Mans.(It has since been rebuilt.)Can you give us any more clues? Perhaps a time line of some sort? Avengers history? Color? Wheels? Often the movie/television folks make stuff up to look the part, but they are illusions...not real cars. This is a possibility. Do TELL
                                Regards Road Reptile

Hello, RR,

Sorry to have been so tardy in replying. I had nothing new to offer, and guessed you'd figure that out if no post appeared.

I have a bit of information from Ronnie Spain: the car is undoubtedly " ... GT40 P/1038, ex-Essex Wire, still wearing its 1966 Le Mans disk on the rear wing." I understand he is preparing to gen up a very informative post for the Atlas F1 Nostalgia Forum in response to the question quoted above. If he doesn't bring it here (I URL'd him this thread), I will.

Cheers!

Saw the episode they're talking about yesterday, "From Venus With Love".

Here's the car:https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/236x/ef/b6/13/efb613ba86cddc45aa720f1eaf72312c.jpg

Ah, ok, you're talking about the British TV show from the '60s.

At first I thought you were referring to the recent superhero movie.
