Kinda, but a few things seem wrong. Had been going there for about 25 years and never saw fog there. I lived about 20 miles away and did see fog but very rarely in the river bottom there where it is located and in the last photo I cant believe there was ever a huge berm or aquaduct anywhere near the track. The track is located near the 605 and 210 freeways and is as flat today as it was 50 years ago. If anyone here drinks MILLER beer than every time you take a swig you get a little vintage racey history with that bottle or can.The brewery sits on or partially on, the old race track. Many of my younger years were spent at LIONS- SAN FERNANDO- ORANGE COUNTY INTL. IRWINDALE-BROTHERHOOD-BAKERSFIELD. AHHH what it was like to grow up in the automotive hub of motorsports.

Eric,

Do you have any large versions of these photos? It looks like the track name is on the grand stands in this blow up.

Hello Rich,

No, unfortunately I do not.  I had noticed that sign in the background before and tried to enlarge the photo, but the resolution just isn't high enough and the detail goes away.

Thanks,
Eric

By the looks of the first pics it looks like POMONA to me because of the huge parking area and the trees in the shut down area are still there.

I seem to remember that's what the far end of Orange County looked like. These pictures could have been taken in early 1967 before OCIR was finished, complete with high-tech (for 1967) timing tower.

Hello,

The photos were taken in very early December of 1966.

Thanks,

Might be Lions Dragstrip.  It would be foggy due to its proximity to the coast.  Does not look like Irwindale Raceway to me.  Lyons would have bee closer to SA than those in the San Gabriel Valley(Irwindale and Pomona)

They forgot Ontario Motor Speedway - it ran in the pit lane.
I'm not going to vote. I know it's not Pomona - stands were only on east side. Riverside had berms both sides - Fontana had trees along west side - Irwindale no berm w/building - Could be Bakersfield never made it that far back in the day. I generally hit Irwindale because it was only 2 mi north of home. Wife's cousin was also a starter there so after we started dating it was free to get in.

Just found this site for all of CA: http://dragstriplist.com/california
