He never mentions they are original, but with that price, i'm assuming he thinks they are.
But Pete, let us "less informed" know why they're not originals Chug a Lug

Biggest clue, the centre cap area protrudes instead of being concave.

Also snake is not always but typically not oriented correctly. Should be 'sitting" on valve stem opening.

There is a Ford hubcap that is commonly used to pull off the Shelby hubcap charade .

I done a search on 68 hubcaps and didn't come up with nothing but did see some differences compared to the eBay auction but still didn't know if the ones in discussion on eBay where real or not.....Thanks Chris for showing the differences from real and fake. I would've never even guessed about the Cobra to the valve stem, Lol. I figured they were Ford but hadn't a clue they were fake.

Again Thanks Chris. Its good to know here they're others out there to share vital information about this amazing hobby.

I feel when the well educated about a certain field such as Mustangs, Shelbys, parts, VIN info and such, don't share information about knowledge of originality or on the flip side of the coin, knowledge of Fake parts and cars,  That those individuals are no better than the people selling those Fake items.

Again,
Thanks

Condition is everything. The last set of NOS caps was $4000. Used caps good be $25/ each or several hundred

First these hubcaps are not 68 Shelby parts. Second I would not go by the orientation of the cobra to the valve stem hole as one of the decisive factors of originality  as most but not ALL were aligned to the the valve stem hole.

Are the ebay ones even 15" covers?  Look smaller in the pics.

Good point, most I've come across are 14".

Imagine paying that price, finding out they aren't original but saying to yourself, I bought them I'm installing them (on my 15" wheels)  Frustration

There is a Ford hubcap that is commonly used to pull off the Shelby hubcap charade .
Here is a picture of the 15 ford hubcap I typically see used as the basis for a 68 Shelby wan a be hubcap. I have bought these before to use the outer ring disc as a replacement for a Shelby one . It is the same as the 68 Shelby outer ring that usually gets curbed and trashed . The outer ring is so often curbed that i maight get one or two usable ones out of a whole set. The center section will un bolt and you can switch them out. I am glad I hadn't thrown this one away so I could show what the ebay one is.
