5006 - Again being abused, just like in the 1970's

A few years ago at one of the California conventions, there was an auction of memorabilia by several former Shelby American employees. I purchased this employee handbook. It may have been sold by Jerry Schwarz.

It is 4" x 6" with a glossy light cardboard cover and thin paper pages. It covers the usual policies on company/employee goals, conditions of service, wage/salary policies, vacation/leaves of absence, insurance and interestingly - a car leasing program!

I attached images of the front/back covers and the cover letter on the first inside page. The letter is one of the few instances where I have seen Carroll Shelby's middle initial used.

Bill,

This is really, really cool!  Could you scan, take a picture, or just tell me what the information about the employee leasing program says?  I have been talking to two former Shelby American employees about 6S033.  They both leased the car at different times during the first year it was at Shelby American.  They have both described "bits and pieces" of the leasing program the best that they could remember.  In fact, the first person on the lease was James McLean (V.P. and General Manager, as listed on that first page.)  Bill McLean, his son and also a Shelby American employee, was actually the person that drove the car.  Bill and the guy that leased it after him would both be very interested in seeing the exact information.  They are both very interested in sharing their experiences at Shelby American and are just really nice guys.

Thanks for posting this.

You can email me directly if it is easier.

Hey Guys,

those are some pretty cool items!

Have you guys ever seen these. Got them a while back. One is the SA Employee Insurance handbook and the other is a legit 1965 Christmas card sent out from SA to the employees on xmas 1965.  Signed "carroll" in the old style sig on the inside.

Best,
Vern
