I am wondering how they got that reproduction to look so worn?

Yes a reproduction tag for sure with a lot of added patina . Most likely so you would not question it's authenticity. But then again I have gotten cynical after reading so many bogus ebay descriptions. Roll Eyes

I have #1861, a GT350 convertible and it's Shelby American tag is embossed rather than stamped/engraved and does not have Los Angeles, Calif on it, since none of the 350s would have seen LA until they went to a dealer there as they were built in Livonia.

I've seen "Shelby American" tags scattered all over 68's for quite awhile....

Not sure if we know where the "cut off" was.....

There is a specific date. But, since cars werent built in strict numerical order, its not going to make sense for most people, plus its an AO Smith build date, not a Ford date.

1968 tags never ever say "Los Angeles" and were not stamped in that manner. + 1

Based on the restoration decisions, I would bet the owner has no idea the tag is fake.

Now, can we talk about those "California experts" ?

why the concern about the a/m wheels? it comes with the ORIGINAL 10 spokes. it has numbers matching bolts, but a junkyard motor, original spare wheel but p metric radial japanesse tire. if those gauges are original, or day 2, I may have some photos of this car back in 74.  phred
