Just in case you are not aware Scott Fuller Reproductions makes a spot on duplicate. http://www.scottfullerreproductions.com/catalog/item/4595229/7691277.htm   I get around and  I have only seen the 70 and later service transverse 2 inch muffler new in a number of years of parts scavenging just so you know . Not to say they aren't out there someplace just that it will most likely be hard to find a production dated one new.

I have a NOS 69 transverse on my 67 GT350. It was bought with all of the parts to restore the car around 1976-77. I would have to go out and look at the date on it again , it's still on my car, looks new still, my complete exhaust system for the 67 is also NOS from the same time period. Parts were installed  when the car was restored  in 1996, and has  travelled around 2200  miles since, no rain.
