I have some old photos from late 60's I believe. I understand they have been used in ads in publications back in the day, but there's no markings on them. I'm trying to place name of car model, year, publication, photographer, race event, etc.

Most are promotional photos that were given to dealers and reps to promote the company

Are they Dave Friedman photos perhaps?

I tried looking through some of the DF collection but there are an awful lot:

So, as to photo A. Do we know the SFM # of the GT350, the CSX # of the cobra or the location.

TIA,
Darryll

The majority of these all look familiar. They may very well be Dave Friedman's photos.

Photo "A" of the '66 GT350 with a Cobra on the trailer does not look familiar.
I may have seen it once before, perhaps here on the forum. I think both cars were ID'd but I can't help to tell anyone where it was.

Photo "C" looks to be at Riverside (10/11/65?)
csx2431 #98

Photo "D" is at Sebring March 1965
csx2602 #16

Photo "F" is at Daytona Feb 1965 (roughly 2/27 or 2/28)
GT-104 #72

Photo "G" is at Laguna Seca May 3, 1964
csx2128 #50
csx2136 #98

Photo "H" looks to be P/1016 testing (at Sebring?) in February of 1966

Photo "I" looks to be csx2259 from Daytona; 2/16/1964

Photo "J" looks to be from Riverside; Oct 13, 1963

richstang,

"Photo "H" looks to be P/1016 testing (at Sebring?) in February of 1966"

I seem to recall additional photos of an early MK-II with the "low" hump'd nose and the side vent in front of the door that referenced testing at Ford's Dearborn track?
Do we know what car was tested in Dearborn?

Thanks

It may very well be P/1016 at testing at Dearborn not Sebring.
Although my file noted Sebring written in the photo name, I have wondered if it was in fact Dearborn. Certainly it would have been protected better from prying eyes.

If the GT your speaking of has an open vent area on the side of the hood panel, just behind the front wheel, it should be P/1016.

F   is the Dragonsake with Jere Kilpatrick driving ( Tony Stoer sat lower) and of extra interest is the parachute says COMET. That would mean it was one made for Jack Chrisman's Comet as nothing else was fast enough to require one LOL. "I" think the the track was San Fernando by the surrounding trees.

Here is the color photo that appears to be from the same event.
Background doesn't look like Sebring, perhaps Ford's Romeo test track in Mich, we may never know.
The air outlet in the tire cover doesn't appear to have the raised lip, I suspect this may be from prior to the Sebring test session where the registry notes they "sorted it out".

jim p

If this was in December / January prior to Daytona or February prior to Sebring it probably isn't Michigan with those short sleeve shirts.
I agree the background doesn't look like Sebring, but perhaps it's just a portion of the track less familiar.

Here's a side view to add in the mix.

Point well taken, as a Mich resident I should have thought of that! Grin

You were right about a similar appearing car testing at Dearborn. This photo of GT-106 in early June of 1965 proves it.
I have a few other photos of it there as well wearing the race #10.
