That's what happens when you bring a V-6 to a V-8 race.

Maybe you should walk into the modern era and out of the forest and share a TAB with Mike.

Apparently you have never driven anything with boost.
Started way back when there was Shelby-Spearco I had an early 2.8 Capri that would hang with all the GT350s that were in COCOA (late 70s) at the time - street or Willow. I've had 8 turbo cars over the years (sold the last one 2 years ago 2.0 Pinto - most oddball was a factory turbo Buick 4.3 V6 with big carb and HEI one of about 50 made for their Indy pace cars - you didn't really think the track pace cars were stock 3.8s did you?) and still subscribe that there is no substitute for cubic inches. Turbo motors are all compromises. Small motor to make mileage and CAFE standards and boost to make acceptable horsepower. Problem is if you drive it like a V8 you get poor mileage and beat it up. If you drive it off the boost it gets decent mileage and you get run over by everything else on the road.

this is all just in fun, right?
Car & Driver (I think?) suggested that the "EcoBoost" name is really sort of either/or... as noted by 06GT - you can have "eco" or you can have "boost", but not at the same time  Hysterical

and FWIW, the 1989 Indy Pace Car [Trans AM] did perform its duties with the stock Turbo/intercooled/SFI 3.8 Buick V6  Chug a Lug

It is all the continuing tech. challenge.  I also like the 624 HP out of my 2011 GT350 Ford V8.  But I am a bit amazed that my '14 Explorer Sport twin turbo 6 gets 360 HP, which is five more HP than the Legendary 99-04 Lightning truck with a supercharged 351 c.i. V8.

The three Ford GTs didn't win but each placed in the top five and no major mechanical failures.  They are still rookies in development compared to the other track toys but continue to see improvement. It would be nice to see more competitor Ford GTs on the track. The Ford GT350R/C is having its ups and downs as well, but it is nice to at least have a competitor Mustang in the field again.

But the 81 Regal did not.

Thanks... I've only ever seen one of those 81 Pace Cars (at AACA Museum), did not know that they made 50 with the "special" 4.3
