Hey everyone, I just want to take a minute to intoduce 1967 GT500 #2440 to everyone. She has lead a very sheltered life for a long time now, spending it in sunny California....well she hasn't got to see much of the sun in Cali because she has been under lock and key hidden away!!! but soon she will be back out in the fresh air and enjoying her years again... hahahaha
Here is the story as we know from registry. 2440 was completed may 26th 1967 and shipped june 5th 1967 to Larry Lange Ford, Cedar Rapids, IA which is about an hour west of me here in Blue Grass, IA. 2440 was purchased by Dennis Elder of Des Moines, IA on June 27 1967. car was only in Iowa for about a year when Dennis moved to California and started racing it. Don't know exactly when he sold it but it was purchased by Loren Derpinghaus of Fresno CA. Now it is back home here in Iowa and very thankful for the years in California, because she isn't suffering from the common deceases of a mid-western life. She is very cancer free. She only suffers from being raced which has it's own problems but still better than cancer!!! She is back with her Original family now and is just getting ready to become whole again...
I will try to keep you all in the loop as I get to go through her story...
here is a few pictures the owner has copied for me from her early days and i will post more later

Also the Shelby forms I have from Dave Mathews say that 2440 came with Magstars but on one forms there is a $150 up charge for Shelby wheels??? Does "Shelby wheels" mean the ten spook wheels that are on car in picture in August of 67 just two months from purchase of car? I would assume it does but I'm unlcear of which wheels would be correct for day of sale?

Yes, they were shipped in the trunk and dealer installed

I think Mag Stars and "10-Spokes" were both "optional" (additional charge) wheels.

Wow, great car and fantastic period pictures with 10 spokes and rear mount antenna.

Any pictures of the front? Engine?  Outboard or inboard?

Since it is a Acapulco Blue car it is probably outboards...

Very Cool Car and nice to hear it's back in the family again.
 Cool one

Wheels are tricky!
Dave M. just mentioned to me Shelby wheels are 10-spokes, while the Deluxe wheels are Magstars.
Besides the paper trail confusion, the dealer may have swapped the Magstars for 10-spokes.

That August photo does show the correct small letter Goodyears with the 10-spokes.
Those are fantastic photos to have!!! Thanks so much for sharing them with us!

Something else that may be of interest is the DSO group, 84-2594. It looks to be a small one with only 11 cars, all Acapulco Blue.
#2440 is the only one showing Magstars, the others are 4 with hubcaps and 6 with 10-spokes. This may or may not have any relevance.

Thanks for the note on the outboards!

Do Magstars and 10-Spokes share the exact same width and back spacing?
