Old drag cars really turn me on!  I fell in love with that white 1968 1/2 CObra Jet this weekend.  What a beautiful piece of art.

Small block eight so live she feels
There she's parked beside the curb
Engine revving to disturb
She's the princess from his past
Red paint gold stripes damned she's fast"

Good info on Russ Davis & Gas. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TH1y-XVEbEc They finally tore this dealership down last month. Gas came to Russ Davis from Downtown Motors in LA where he was racing a lightweight Galaxie. At Russ Davis he was in a Thunderbolt first then this Mustang. The first one broke an axle and crashed. Since it wasn't his fault Ford gave him another one. On the rear 1/4 you see Les Ritchey he was Performance Associates and a Mustang racer himself. He built Gas' motors and also built the Dragon Snakes for Shelby. He was killed in 1966 in his Mustang.

That's depressing to hear on all accounts.  Times change.  Unfortunate that such sites cannot get designated as historic places.  Shelby's Venice digs should be designated as such.  But at least it still exists.  Should be an museum.  It is part of this country's heritage.  Heritage is important in every area of a country's history.  Positive heritage of course.
