Very cool.

I find it interesting that there are so many people of the era that had no idea or no interest in what was happening then.

Lots of these things were just props in their lives.

My uncle worked for the Post Office in the Shelby LA days. The airport was on his route.

When I asked him about it he said, "that's what was going on there?" In his case, just a nub nuts. There was probably a topless bar right near that he hung out at trying to get the girls attention?  Amazing. Just amazing.

That area was LOADED with nudie clubs. Seriously!!! at least 20 right in the local area. Yes I did visit them. The "Jet Strip" was one of the most popular back then.

Aino Korva is a Finnish name and it's strange she was Miss Scandinavia when Finland isn't a part of
Scandinavia. Korva means Ear in Finnish. How do I know, my wife is Finnish.

Thanks John for a very interesting story about Aino Korva. Obviously Danish and consequently Scandinavian. Don't know what Korwa means in Danish but she sure was a beautiful lady.

Miss Denmark and Me

Last night at a wine tasting my wife and I sat at the counter next to other wine connoisseurs. While eating cheese and drinking wine, the lady seated next to me acquired about my phone and its size. I told her that I use the built-in-stylist to edit and photoshop pictures. I then showed her my latest photo of a Ford Torino. She replied "Is that a Cobra Jet?" I was shocked at her response, but I WAS TOTALLY BLOWN AWAY BY WHAT SHE DID NEXT. Or should I say what her husband Paul did. He pulls his phone out and shows me a picture of her as a model in 1965 wearing a checked flag dress and a black cowboy hat kneeling in front of a red Ford GT40, which ultimately became a magazine ad for Carroll Shelby racing equipment. My jaw hit the floor and I replied with about five - No Way's!
What I did next blew them away - I started laughing and pulled out my phone and showed her the same photo. It had been my phones wallpaper for months. I told her that this photo has been floating around but no one knew who the model was. Mystery solved. We laughed and exchanged stories. She is an amazing Scandinavian woman with a Danish accent and intriguing tales of Hugh Hefner, Harrison Ford and many others. As it turns out, we lives in the same neighborhood! Small world!

Miss Scandinavia 1964 in Helsinki, Finland. (1st runner-up place, Miss Press)

- Miss Europe 1963 in Beirut, Lebanon. (2nd runner-up)

- Miss World 1963 in London England. (3rd runner-up)

- Miss Universe 1963 in Miami Beach, Florida, USA. (1st runner-up)

5006 - Again being abused, just like in the 1970's

I have that poster, among others, framed and hanging on the walls of my showroom. Visitors who see it frequently speculate as to  "Who is she and where is she now?" - as well as - "Wonder what she looks like now?"

So you didn't happen to get a current photo, did you?  idea
