This is interesting reading about the controversial Ford finish at Le Mans in June 1966, because it's a British perspective from only two months after the race.

The pages will read better if you right click & save them:

Here's a nice photo of Ken Miles in CSX2002 at Sebring '63 with a pretty cool caption.

I had never seen this photo before and really liked it, so even though it was on two pages I felt it worth the time to scan both, stitch them together and then work the seam imperfections out.

Enjoy!

The above photo of Ken Miles is from the coverage of Sebring '63 in the June 1963 issue of Car & Driver magazine.
Also in that article, on page 29, is this little snippet that caught my eye:

"The Quote" (my words) was significant to me, because it's the first (and earliest) time I've ever seen it in print, somewhere outside of a SAAC publication.

Significant, because I used to wonder if that quote could have been one of those 'Shelby quotes or stories' that seemed to surface over the years.
But this publication of it in a national magazine in 1963 proves to me that it really was said at the time, and not later.

That's pretty cool too!

Hey, you're right!
Looking through my European Mustang race results shows two outings for this Mustang Hardtop at the Bahamas Speed Weeks
64-11-29 Nassau Tourist Trophy
#199 DPK7B Prelim 11th oa, Main 9th oa Skip Scott
64-12-6 Nassau Trophy Race
    #199 DPK7B 16th oa, 1st GTP5.0 Skip Scott
Chug a Lug

Dear Members,

Does anybody know if Skip Scott did use an Tecalemit Jackson Petrol Injection system on this 289 Hipo car? I know these injection systems were sold by Holman Moody and they have close connections.
Was it allowed to add or use a Petrol Injection System in his class (GTP5.0?). I'm not so familiar with rules book out of that time period.

I'm looking for all kind of (new!) information on this car (The Alan Mann Mustang DPK-7B) or on Tecalemit Jackson Petrol Injection systems so if anybody got details, quotes, images or parts, please reply.
Many Thanks.

Here's a neat ad for BAY AREA AUTO SALES that features 5R102.
This was in the Vaca Valley, Sept 10-11, 1966 race program:

I was wondering what the angled black lines were on the front apron in the ad above, then I found this closer photo that shows that they are electrical tape.
Their purpose? I'm still wondering . . .

Maybe just to make it easier to tell which Shelby (your team) was coming towards you on the straight(?)

Jim recently scored some original posters, and the one that really caught my eye was this one from the March 3, 1963 race at Dodger Stadium.
It's 11" x 17" printed on real heavy paper and prominently features a Cobra.

I looked thru all of my CSX2002, CSX2026 and Dodger Stadium photos hoping to see one of these posters in the background of one of them, but I didn't see one.
It was amazing to have one of the actual posters from a race that Dave MacDonald and Ken Miles raced at in my hands:

I've always liked this photo of Phil Remington leaning over Miles' CSX2002 on that day:

If anyone has a Dodger Stadium photo that shows one of these posters in the background, please share it!

Thanks

I "Googled" Globe Poster Baltimore. Looks like a very interesting place. Printed a lot of music posters etc. I read a few articles that some are now considered very valuable. Take a look under ( Images in Google ) if you like that poster, they all have that same vibe. Here was just one article that gives more of the background on the shop-

Hey Guys,

Just wanted to drop my .02 in to avoid confusion. The dodger stadium poster on this thread was not a period piece. It was printed much later along with many other versions for different races (most with different/random illustrations of other cars and events)...I dont know when they were actually printed but they are a recent poster made to look like an original poster. In fact, many show up on ebay with clearly fake patina added to them..

I am sure a true event poster would have been made for the Dodger stadium event, however, I have not seen one. Those would be extremely scarce.

Wanted to get this out there so nobody goes paying a bunch of moolaa for one. They are readily available and not expensive/collectible. The links below are all from a single seller on eBay..and every other poster the guy is selling is also a fake.

Kind regards,
Vern
