It is with a heavy heart that I must inform you all the John Kiewicz (you all know him better as "Kiwi" here on the forum) passed away yesterday in a motorcycle accident. I found out through a Facebook post made by John's brother on his Facebook wall.

John was a fearless test driver for Hennessey Performance and piloted the Venom GT to a world record, among a great number of other achievements. He was very modest about his achievements and didnt like to make a big fuss over them on the forum. He invited me to ride along with him in the Venom when i was in school at UT Austin and he was flying to houston to test the car. I couldn't go because I had to go home and see family that weekend. I now greatly regret not taking that ride.  He was a great driver, but was also as great a dude as you will ever meet. Additionally, he worked in a number of different automotive publications, too many to list. I am sure many will post about John's work on this thread and their memories of him so I will not go into too much detail. Lets use this thread to honor Kiwi. I can tell you that I only met him once in person (at CS's memorial service) but he was a great guy and a real gentleman.  I exchanged emails with him on a weekly basis and he always left anyone he spoke to with a smile on their face.

Rest in peace, KIWI. Ill be having a beer in your honor tonight.

Best regards,
Vern

My heart goes out to his family .What a loss I will miss his posts here on the forum and our PM's back and forth. He was a real character (in a good way) and made me smile. He also had a way of making me wince and smile at the same time Grin . Keep a eye on us KIWI. RIP

Kiwi called me just 3 days ago and sent me a photo of one of his kids Monday.
I don't know what to say.

Many of you never met Kiwi but he had an outrageous sense of humor and was a wickedly generous guy from every angle.  I will miss him for the rest of my days.

For those of you looking at the photo Vern posted.
Kiwi is the one in the fire suit. That was taken the day he broke the Guiness Book record for 0-300KMPH in a street car.
