Hi,

I'm the new owner of this 1968 Shelby GT500KR with VIN 8T02R203104-02322. It is a unique all-original survivor car from the first owner! A 4-speed and an original Raven Black car. Al lot of documentation is present. I have a Marti report '68 registry.

I was wondering if someone knows the car and has more information to share.

Kind regards,

Michael Bol

Michael, there is a story that the original owner of this car may have bought some fiberglass off a wrecked red 67/68 Shelby.

Is there anyway to followup with him?

Michael Bol

I don't know the stories. I would be surprised because I checked the paint thicknesses too. No strange deviations to be found now..
The car looks sleek and doesn't appear to have been involved in an accident or anything.
I do have contact with the daughter of the first owner, but it will not be easy to get more information from the Netherlands.
Kind regards,

Michael Bol

I am not saying that fiberglass went on this car.

It was a separate transaction for another purpose.

Hi Michael:  I purchased this vehicle in WI a few weeks ago.
Original owner KR and being a black 4 speed made it more special...

Funny you mentioned the owner bought Red Shelby Parts and there is a Red 67 Shelby Nose on the Shelf behind it.

I didn't mean to ever infer that there is something wrong with that transaction as it happens all the time for cars going overseas both ways. Good luck on getting more info on your black beauty. I love black on 68s. I painted my old green 68 Black. I sold it to a guy in France in 2013. It is in FRANCE last I heard.

Just some pictures what the status of this KR is right now. For this archive. Ha. Center console is allready outside the car but present. Power steering is missing. Hubcaps are there as well, I will not restore the car, but keep it as it is. Except for the PS which I'm planning to rebuilt.

Good Day Michael,
That is a beautiful 68 Shelby GT 500KR. I am curious if this car is original paint since it came from the original owner? The pictures show the paint to look really beautiful but the whole car appears to have been well cared for. Thanks for your time.

Michael Bol

Hi Tom,

Thanx.
You can really see that the car has been used. But overall it has been well taken care of. We measured the paint over the entire car and it is consistent and the thickness the car should have. So I have no reason to believe that the paint is not original.

Nice to hear from you.
