Great racing back in the day...Chaparral, Lola, Ferrari but 427 Cobras come on strong late in the race.

A better race for Shelby American fans would have been the 1964 Bridgehampton Double 500 race as Carroll Shelby packed ten 289 Cobras in 28 car field in the quest to gather the World Manufacture points towards the Championship. Ferrari never showed up since Enzo had already cancelled the Monza race so Shelby American would have to wait until 1965. There is a You Tube video of the 1964 race but it was a 16mm film put on by the Hansgen family.  For the time period, its hard to beat the quality of this 1965 film.

It is a "savor" for sure.

It is much closer to the racing that I remember compared to Daytonna or Sebring.

Tracks like Bridgehampton were really rough tracks, not kept in the conditions that we know of in today's world.

The place was full of sand fleas that you had to contend with watching the race standing out on a dune. It was pretty easy to sneak into the track back then.

Sure was different back then, track and off-track conditions, driver equipment was a lot less too.

In a room of guys I doubt most would pick Hap Sharp as the race car driver?

The shoe I often saw were $9.95 Tom Mccaan black slip ons. They were already black so the fire wouldn't re-color them?
