A topic in a different part of the forum has jogged my memory.  In 1978, I met a man named Vern Houle.  He had a small shop (All American Garage?) in an equally small town in southwestern Oregon.  Part of a longer story, but he offered to look at a problem that I was having with the engine in 67_1183, if I would bring by his shop.  He fixed the problem I was having with embarrassing ease.  While there, he talking about Shelby American stuff like he was an insider.  A Google search lists him as a dry lakes racer and record holder on the sand at Daytona, etc. but no mention of an affiliation with Shelby American.  If there was, I would like to learn more.

Thanks,

Jeff Green

Verne also worked for Bill Stroppe and was given a lot of credit  for the Lincoln success in Mexico

No response to an inquiry from the "Contact Us" page on the website http://www.legendconnection.org.

He is listed in the "Checkered Flag" section of:

History of the Shelby Mustangs - Shelby: The Untold Stories From The Men Who Built The Cars
From the March, 2009 issue of Mustang Monthly By Donald Farr

Anybody?  Is this just a Newbie thing?

Already figured that part out, thanks for the post.

If he was part of SA, what year(s), what capacity?

Thanks
