Shelby and Ford VIN Do Not Match

Fast Fords

I came a cross a car the other day where the Shelby number did not match the Ford VIN. The Ford VIN matches a different Shelby number in the registry. The one with the Ford VIN has all the details about the car but has not been updated in over 40 years. The one that has the Shelby number has not been updated at all and has nothing about the car known. The two cars are only 7 numbers apart. Any ideas if this Shelby was misstamped or something ? Thanks.

I've come across numerous vehicles that are miss-stamped.

Just a few ..
67 GT 500 with a "K"
69 Gt 500 with a "M"
66 GT 350 with a "4" rather than a "7"

And recently a 69 GT 350 with the wrong digit in the VIN on the block.

It does not appear the original post is referring to a single digit. Highly unlikely its a mis-stamp.

I would strongly recommend you contact the Registrar to sort it out. Vinman@infionline.net

Its more likely to be a Registry error.  You say nothing is known. It maybe known and not published. In some cases registry numbers were extrapolated and incorrect.

If not that, I suspect you will find some reproduction identification tags
