To celebrate Le Mans which happened two weekends ago, here are a couple of foreign Le Mans Videos, the first two are the 1966 event and the last video is the 1964 event.  Click on the dailymotion.com uplink on each set to upload the videos and click on the arrow to start the video.  If the uplinks do not work I'll try and send the links to Ron so he can figure it out.  Now quite please, sit back and enjoy. Very cool vids! Is it true that Ford is the only American company to ever win international 24hrs of LeMans?

Depends how you "slice" it.

If you consider the GT40 to be an American car (  Grin ), then yes.

...knowing that a US-based team won in 2005 with an Audi...
...and NART (North American Racing Team) won in 1965 with a Ferrari.

I meant American car manufacturer, not the origin of the team.

Also, did the 08 LeMans take place yet. I hear the Corvette is supposed to be there this year.

If I remember correctly, the 1969 Le Mans event has been the closest finish ever at Le Mans, with the Gulf Mirage Ford GT winning over the Porsche 908.

The only year that the winner was an American team with only American drivers was 1967.
(The year I was there for the whole 24 hours)

corvette has done well at lemans since the introduction of the c5 series. they usually win thier class (gt1), it's gotten to the point that none of the other manufacturers wil even compete with them especially in the american lemans series. i believe dodge vipers also had some luck at lemans too...............both american made vehicles.

The Vipers were usually run by the French ORECA team.  I guess the question should be related to which American brand car was the first to win the overall at Le Mans driven by American drivers.  To which A-Snake is correct in that the Ford GT Mark IV with Dan Gurney and AJ Foyt won the overall at Le Mans in 1967.  2259 is correct in saying that the Corvette has won its class in the previous Le mans events, but the GT1 class was won by the Aston Martin team this year.
