Yuup. That's Don at "the beach" (Lions Drag Strip). Mel Burns gave him a wagon to tow with. I was there "several" times to say the least. I raced him once and beat him but he'll never admit it. Randy

The funny thing is that you see more Shelby's now than the old Ford woody wagons from the 60's.

they all moved to seattle and wrecked it. stupid "green, bicycle ridding, road hogging, politically correct (weather or not one is qualified for the position) liberal, gay marrying, democrat, electic car, everyone pay for me, we deserve something and not have to work for it" people...i used to have a sticker on my desk, it said "to hell with how they do it in california" for us, it was the truth. plus, thanks for the "laborers" that followed you. your turn, phred

my late wife was from riverside. when she moved up here some 25 years ago, she couldn't understand why she was rejected everywhere. i told her to not say anything about being a californian. she didn't understand why, but people now accepted her.she often asked me,"how long until i'm a wa(word is not allowed)onian?" i had to tell her, never. 10 years ago the good Lord took her, but "i wish they could all be california girls" love the weather, not the politics. back to the woodie, never understood, my fathers dealership sponsored a race car, and yes, it was drug allover with a woodie wagon (65-69) why didn't we use the "shop truck" all lettered and decaled for advertising? wagons were, are, cool. phred

We can all say what we want about Californians, we sure do in Nevada, BUT the fact remains that ALL real Shelby Cobras & 65,66, & 67 GT350's and 500's came from the state. I could be wrong but California may have the most SAAC members.

scoops , Consider yourself lucky that you have as few "laborers" as you do! There are complete cities down here where I can't read a single sign on a business. But we do have less wet weather! Like this weekend for the Cobra celebration at Pomona, should be sunny in the 80's by the time Bob G lands.
Back on topic. Many "woody wagons" suffered from peeling wood stickers and were painted over. there are still a few down here that pay the price to keep the stickers in good shape. The heat/sun is tough on the material. Randy

little secret, i used to have a woody wagon, 76 malibu with factory swivel seats, the discontinued to woodgrain, i used contact paper. worked great, matched good enough, cheap. could do a whole car for 35 bucks! even if it only lasted a year or two, it is a cheap refresher. phred
