all the repro parts are lacking details of originals. I always get originals refinished but I would like to find someone who can do it well that isnt a PITA to get along with

It's getting harder to find people that can do the re-chroming of plastic parts. Many have gotten out of the business due to the economic slowdown. Tony Azcue...   www.tonysautoclassics.com   is still doing restoration work on dash and other interior pieces but he is also considering dropping the re-chroming part of his business.  Some folks have reported that Tony is dificult to work with but I have not personally found that to be the case...Tony is currently doing the work for me on my 68 GT 350 which will be the third car he's done for me. He does great work, albeit pricey, but the results are far better than anything you can find in the repro world.

I have also heard reports that Paul's will re-chrome plastic parts but they use the same process as they do for metal which results in a much thicker coating and subsequently doesn't always have the correct visual look and can also cause fitment issues due to the extra thickness of the chrome.

I've always used Mr. Gs in the past, and have been satisfied, but notice they don't have the vacuum metallizer or painter anymore and are just selling inventory they have.

At the risk of being perceived as unfamiliar with specialists in the hobby, who is Mr Gs?

I stopped using Mr G's many years ago when they kept sending me back someone elses core which was typically inferior.

What about Ray Azcue Tim? You recommended him to me and he did a great job-but that was a few years ago?
I had the same problem with Mr Gs. not only did a friend of mine and I send him excellent cores-we SOLD him extra excellent cores also so he had a bunch from us. My friend got back ones that were warped beyond use on 2 with broken tabs. Finally got good ones from him. Ray marks your originals to make sure you get yours back.

I think Tim is being polite.

I and two other guys have all used Tony and we were all please.  Yes - he is not the cheapest but we were all pleased with the work.

Tony suggested that I mark my parts on the backs before I sent them which I did and got those same back.  He did charge about $12.00 more than the original quote after he got the parts as he wanted to repair some broken tabs which was OK with me.

Thats too bad. His wife passed away during the time he was doing my dash panels. The job he did on my 68s were top notch. Gary

Anyone tried Chrome Tech?

http://www.chrometechusa.com/

Have a bunch of stuff I'm about to bring to the US (4 sets of '68 dash pasts and some other bits) and don't need a long distance problem as they won't be done before I head back to Australia, and need someone reliable...
