66 GT350H SFM6S554 confirmed 4spd

« on: March 14, 2012, 07:45:40 PM »

My son tried to order a 350H hood for his 2005 GT. He was told the 350H hood is discontinued but the Terlingua hood is available with functional heat extractors...but for a few hundred more.

Does this sound right? I remember a post a few yrs back that Shelby was stinging GT500 owners on replacement parts like (13K for a wheel, hood, fender) in his attempt to control parts.

Is this some of the same?

Yea, I am pretty sure they have been out of GTH hoods for a long time, like ever since i was there in 09.  i believe their rational behind only producing the Terlingua hood is that it is a far better hood being that it is functional.

Best regards,
Vern

It seems practical for SA to limit the remaining inventory to original GT-H owners on what was a very limited production and supply.  Also, SA has been pretty adamant in not having parts available for thaose who want to make clones of some of the original SA series special production (CSM numbered) cars like the GT-H and GT350.  Most of the other Shelby named  cars  have parts availble over the counter in the Shelby Performance catalog.

Hi Phred,

Back in the day, Shelby American was happy to sell you many parts that came stock on the GT350.  I remember adds to "Cobraize" your Mustang.  Back in the day, he was not worried about clones, just making some coin.  That is what a business does, otherwise it goes out.

They may have stopped producing the GTH hood because the replacement market is not there, no profit.  The no cloning story sounds better from a PR perspective.

Was looking for a GT350H hood and then considered a Terlingua hood but found out both V6 and V8 versions of that are not avail either (at least to the general public) so we have gone another direction.

Thanks Ray

What is a GT350H hood?  I know there is a 2011-12 GT350 hood and a 2006-7 GT-H hood.

The hood used on the 06-07 GT-H cars is no longer available...having recently aquired a GT-H, I am considering my options in respect to running pehaps a Mustang hood with GT/CS hood scoop, or a SGT hood & scoop...

On our 07 Hertz we put a Foose Stallion Hood, excellent quality, straight bolt on, put  that heavy glass hood up for future use. The Deep draw hood is lighter, functional, but several friends with Terlinguas have got spider webbing issues.
