For a few bucks more the guy that bought the mat from JC Whitney could have gotten the matching Duffle bag with the Mustang emblem....

Wouldn't it be more helpful to just point out what the problem is?

The OEM mat was a thicker rubber material and the cheap repros are a thin white felt backed material. The auction mat is the cheap felt back material. In the previous posters defense ,the seller is so clueless it is ridiculous and hard not to be sarcastic.

OK

So here is a picture of a mat I pull out of a very low mile 68 coupe.

and the underlay

and the repo one in my wifes 66 vert for comparison.

I think the first two pictures are of an original mat/underlay.

Am I mistaken?

Hi Jim,

Just sent the guy a question asking him why he thinks it is an original mat and if the back side was a felt type material.  Maybe he will see the errors of his way without us telling him.  It is always better for an individual to realize their mistake than others telling him.  No one likes to be told they are wrong.  In his defense, he may think it is original, especially with a little patina.

Take care

Cory

Yes a 68 coupe.

I have seen the thinner repos and this one is thicker rubber not a vinyl.

Also had that original underlay. That’s what made me think it was original.

That and the original jack and spare tire where there also.

The whole trunk looked very convincing.

Thanks for the lesson Chug a Lug

I may be wrong but Im betting it will stick better in someones mind if they are curious what is the difference  and follow the thread rather than just state that the part is wrong and it should be a thick rubber mat with no felt
