On my 2007 Shelby GT the stripes have gone bad again.  Ford replaced them once and with-in a year they became "crappy" again so I want paint them on.

I ask SVT-FORD and they would not give me the paint code - something about being preparatory and confidential.   This brings me to ask has anybody painted their stripes and what did you use for a color code.

Thanks - Doug

hint: there is no "paint code" for plastic tape stripes. you'll have to take it to the local auto paint store and have them custom mix something. be sure to clearcoat the entire hood, bumpers, deck lid, not just to edge of the stripe. phred

Phred THANKS - I know that the stripes are plastic BUT the hood scoop is painted silver with a piece of white tape down the center; the number that I am looking for is for the scoop silver.  I might have to go to a paint store to get a match.

i called s/a, told them i needed the paint code for the scoop. was told no one speaks english in the paint shop, but he would try. he called back with the super secret ,cant get number. now knowing the scoop is silver, take it to a automotive paint vender and have him use a "profit" machine on it to scan the color. when you get the color, have them paint the scoop at the same time as the stripes,so it all matches. phred, and yes i'm about to join the "new age"shelbys, ready to order my "last convertible" gt 350 with auto. phred

Thanks so much ---  Care to share that super secret number?  If so great just PM me and I'll not pass it on. If not I'll just go to the paint store.  When you order your "last convertible"  I'd suggest that you get the painted stripe option.

they wouldn't give me the number. with my connections, i called someone at ford svt, explained the stripes were peeling for the 2nd time, and wanted to match the hood scoop for color to paint on the stripes, told me same thing as shelby, but offered to sell me a scoop for $120.00 with proof of ownership...wtf? and these people will be running the country when i retire?Huh??? phred

Phred - thanks for trying.

My original scoop has fake rivets and is held on by four bolts.  The scoop that Ford set me when the stripes went bad the 1st time doesn't have the ability to be held on withe the 4 bolts; they want us to rivet it directly on the hood. And the colors between the 2 scoops is different; I'll just match the original scoop.

Sorry Doug that I did not see this months ago.
I had the stripes on my '07 replaced with paint after the second set that Ford replaced also went rusty.
attached is the paint code the shop manager gave me and said any shop can decode the formula. The color looks a perfect  match.

In my personal opinion, I would not go with original stripes anymore unless you decide not to drive your car and maintain it in a garage.
We drive all our cars and had the gold stripes matched by a local body shop, then clear coated. All using Siekens paint products. We also removed the badges as many people want these as souvenirs. I have attached some photos.

thanks

Tony

The color is "Satin Silver"  the same as the 2007 Satin Silver Mustang.  The Scoops are painted Satin Silver and a Black Vinyl Stripe is layed down the center.

Had a local Mod Shop that does stripes redo our 07 Hertz, they have looked good for 3 years! Ford redid my sons 08 SGT-C 2 years ago, going to crap already.
