I have to admit, i thought history was repeating itself when the Boss Cars were reintroduced.....but this car shows that is certainly not the case. I. MUST. HAVE. ONE.

On paper, the horsepower-to-horsepower comparison of the Shelby and the ZR-1 has the Ford winning. However, in real life ... factor in overall vehicle weight, weight bias, rear tire size, aerodynamics and such ... and there is noooo way that the Shelby will out accelerate or out handle the ZR-1.

The 2013 GT500 looks to be a step in the right direction, but will need a diet to compete with a ZR1. 650 (flywheel) hp will net about 568rwhp, a good starting point. The big news is the launch control & other handling upgrades, Ford finally heard us. Looking forward to the first test results & pricing info..

This is to compete (whip) the ZL-1 Camaro as the OP stated. Not, the ZR1 Corvette! Sounds like an awesome Mustang, no doubt.

Before anyone runs out to buy one, contact your insurance agent and tell them you are buying a street legal car capable of 200 mph. I will be interested in the quotes....

If you bought an 07 or later 500 and did a pulley, tune and exhaust you would have the same HP number. Or is this not the case?

Yea but just reading from the press release on the car, you are getting alot more in the 2013 than just 650hp. Best regards, Vern

Well the all aluminum engine was at least 100 lbs lighter so you have some weight savings but if they can do the magic comparable to the Boss it will be amazing. The Boss has better numbers on the track than the GT500! Spicey
