I have heard that SA has directed its dealers to not take any more orders for Cobras until further notice and that, if/when SA does decide to accept orders again, that there will be a very significant price increase.  Also, that currently there are 200 orders that need to be filled (!).  I can believe the no more orders being taken part, but am surprised/skeptical to hear that there is a backlog of 200 orders, even with my assumption that that figure includes almost all of the 50 50th anniversary slabside orders that (I'm speculating) need to be built.  Anybody know of any more details or care to speculate on the situation?

It says they're only making 50.

The Shelby Cobra took the sports car world by storm when it was introduced in 1962. Shelby American took the AC “Ace” chassis, inserted a small block Ford engine and re-engineered the car to handle the additional power. On the track, the Cobra defeated sports cars from Jaguar, Chevrolet, Porsche, and others. Fact is, CSX2000 is the first Shelby Cobra ever built and quite possibly the most valuable American sports car in the world today. We honor this icon with a 50th Anniversary Limited Edition CSX8000-series Cobra. Only 50 vehicles will be produced. Exclusive CSX serial numbers have been reserved, from 8950 though 8999.

Uhh...I thought thats what I said, that the 200 probably includes the 50.  I'm sure you know that there are more models than the 50th Anniversary (CSX 6000, 7000, 8000).

I know nothing about this..lol

Anyway; what little I did read; the specific 50th anniversary model where they were making a total of 50- I saw 2 different prices; depending on body used.. Looks like the 50th sold out in 48 hours

I'm not seeing anything else on the Shelby news page but I did find

and I quote

Quote
On 10/28/2011 Shelby American Inc & SDUSA issued an e-mail to all factory-authorized Shelby Cobra dealers informing the dealers that NO FURTHER NEW CSX Shelby Cobra Orders will be accepted until further notice! Additionally, when (and if) Shelby American Inc & SDUSA do decided to, once again, start accepting new orders for CSX Shelby Cobras there WILL BE a SIGNIFICANT price increase (est. to be at least $ 25,000.00) on fiberglass component/roller cars.

new year, new prices and new orders

Price increase of csx rollers start January 1, 2012, aluminuim roller will be $139,995 without options, a glass roller will be $79,995 without options

For clarification, CSX sales continue, in both Aluminum and fiberglass.

There was a temporary new order hold.

Yes there was a price increase as reflected in the posts.

If the color suits you, there are dealers with some in stock.
