No head restrains, no full containment seats, no window nets, no cages, no protection to prevent going into the lake! Thats what made these men so special, the ability to race your vehicle for all it and you had, with out any distractions such as money-contracts etc. Shocked PeelOut

This is Trans Am related. Another thread was showing old tow vehicles and trailers. This was Penske's car haulers at Mid Ohio 1970 Trans Am. We thought this was really hi-tech back then!
The immaculate Javelins were brought out of the trucks with electric winches. As I remember, Bud Moore brought the Boss 302's on open flat bed haulers...I think they did have car covers, at least.

Man, that was entertaining.  As always, I love the vehicles in the background.  The Shelby, the Vette next to the Cobra, the VW bus, the camping rig.  All cool.  I'm just nuts that way.

And Don Lee, with a '69 Camaro T/A car, brought and set up the pictured fuel rig at Monterey this past August.

Not sure what race this pic is from, but after the fuel tower was made illegal, Donohue and his crew came up with a new way of cramming 22 gallons of fuel into the tank in 3.5 seconds  Wink

This is from his excellent book "The Unfair Advantage".

I thought I had a better picture of the fuel tower when I saw it this August at Monterey.  Here is a picture of the bottom of it anyway.
