THE CHECKERED FLAG - Kenny Beers

We were shocked, like everyone else, to learn of Kenny Beers' (Shelby6T7) untimely death on Wednesday, October 5th.

A memorial service is planned for sometime in the near future and we will advise everyone of the date, time and place.

Kenny was a long-time SAAC member who rarely missed a convention over the past 20 years. He was 1967 Shelby concours judge and was also on the convention planning committee. His frequent posts on the SAAC forum were insightful and significant. When he thought he was right, he was tenacious and he was often right. He was dedicated and had an contageous sense of humor. If you were his friend, you could not have a better one.

His passing has created a large void which will simply not be filled.

We will miss him.

This is truly unfortunate, I had never meet Kenny in person but he was a close friend of friends, they always spoke very highly of him. He was a wealth of knowledge here on the forums and he will certainly be missed, may he rest in peace.

Best regards,
Vern

With a Heavy heart and tears in my eyes I am having a hard time typing this. I have known Kenny for over 20 years We met at a SAAC convention while showing our 67 500's. We realized our cars were 2 #'s apart, ordered and sold from the same Dealership. We were also both Electricians.  We became good friends from the get go. We both had Nextel so we talked cars on the radio all the time, we were only a click away. He has always been a big part of this club, volunteering his time, whether helping running track or Concours judging 67s or helping with the popular ballot show. His love for the cars and his knowledge for 67s put him near the top of the list for people looking for the right answer for their restoration questions. I was on the phone with him no less than four times the day before as he had the day off and he and his neighbor were removing his pedal assembly.  If I knew it was the last time I would have talked to him, I would have said a lot more.

My heart goes out to his Wife, his Son and his family. Kenny, This club will miss you and I know I will miss you.

Dominic

My prayers go out to Kenny's family to help them get through this difficult time. I don't know what I am feeling right now because I am numb.  I do know for sure I am a better person for knowing Kenny.  Rest in piece my good friend. Bob

Dominic - Wonderful words...

I too met Kenny 20 odd years ago as convention staff. He was always at Pit out on the track, no shirt, contagious grin. Concours judging, he was the guy under the car. As Ron said, a hole too big to be filled.

I heard about this yesterday, and also had a very hard time accepting it, I still can't really believe it. We lost a good one.
