Updates and info for the 2011 Fall Regional

Hey all!

Summer is about done, Irene is gone to the North, no more Earthquakes, and time to bring everyone up to speed on the recent developments for the event. Happily, all is going well, and the event is developing nicely with some new things.

Hotel & Room discounts - We have many on board, and I need to remind everyone that the discounted rate is only good until Sept 26, so please make your reservations soon, as the savings are substantial.

Friday night social is set, please contact me if you want a table for any purpose, no charge.

Saturday is going to be fun. Another great breakfast at 8, and at 10 we leave to go to Bruce Larson's barn to see his Funny Car/Drag racing collection, and he has his Dragonsake info displayed. We'll try for a group photo on the side lawn. As part of the Rallye, there will be five questions  to answer based on the items in the barn. Speaking of the Rallye, this year's route is all NEW, and we head Northwest into some great countryside. Roughly 65 miles, I'll have the final  length next week. Zero your trip odometers, it's fun time! We'll tour as a group, and along the way you have the choice to participate in the Rally and answer questions along the route. Again we'll end at Bill Collin's shop for a huge lunch and more Shelby stuff. Awards for the Rally and questions will be given out at the Evening banquet. Some serious, including overall champ, plus some fun ones.

Dinner will be like last year, and we're working on some new and interesting speakers. Ron will again entertain us with more car craziness from his youth in New York city.

Sunday will be the car show again at the Museum, same classes as last year, adjusted for newer model years. The entry list is already impressive, with many new faces as well.

We're getting ready to place all the orders for Shirts and long-lead items, so to be sure we have your size, it's a good time to send in your registration now so we can reserve your shirts.

There are still a few classes open for sponsorship, so if you wish to do so, please contact myself of Diana by this weekend.

More updates will be posted as we get closer, but the event is shaping up to be as much fun as last year's great event, and with a new and different tour. Make sure you are part of it!

This is something not to be missed. The people attending this bash, bring out all sorts of drag cars from all era's....not to mention Bruces private collection.
A must see.

Went to do a first run of the new route, but could not even get to the Larson Barn, as the flooding and road closures have made a mess of the area. Will try again late next week.

Shirts, mugs, decals, dash plaques ordered. If you have a special shirt size, and have not registered yet, I need to know ASAP.

Looking for a route photographer, who can also turn the pics into a video presentation. Anybody interested?

Spent a great morning with Bruce Larson, just talking drag Racing, old racers, and some of his adventures. I got a chance to see more of his memorabilia, and what he has is astounding! It's probably one of the highlights of the weekend. So much to see and take in, 30 years of Drag Racing, plus his cobrasnake stuff,and other racing items. It's a treasure trove.

He's very excited to have us, will let us do a group photo, and will join us for Saturday's dinner. What a truly great guy.

Then, drove this year's route, it's super scenic, easy to run, a big loop roughly 75 miles. Great gently winding roads, very few intersections or traffic lights. And should take just less than two hours.

If you're still on the fence for attending, time to get off and join us, it's going to be another memorable weekend!
