Curious what date code would be appropriate?    Would a 2nd week may be too late?

JD

'67 289 HiPo's used in that year Shelby's had the carb installed at the Cleveland (Ohio) engine plant - so the carb date needs to be earlier than the engine assembly date that is stamped on the front-left upper part of the block - edit - see attached.

In short because of the above sequence, yes unlikely that a mid-May date could be correct (too late).  Might be better to consider late Feb., March or early April for carb date code.

(Also there were two carbs seen on cars, another issue.  Typically a 715 Holley but some got a Autolite)

One example from the same production period (June) as your car had a Feb 67 date for the carb

Willing to pay for right date code

Might consider placing a wanted ad with the details in the section for that. Might find one that way

My car, #2339, GT-350, automatic was completed at San Jose May 3.  It has a Holley 715 with a 731 date code.  I believe #2340,
a GT-350, automatic has the same date code.

Weren't automatics typically built with Autolite carbs ?

They were built with Autolite carbs in 1966 but in 1967 the 715's were used. Some say a few Autolites were also used but so far we haven't seen one.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but do the manual carbs follow the same date pattern? For example, a May/June built 4 speed car would have a February/March dated carb?

My Late April and early May cars both have March carbs.
