Got my first 67 Shelby, 2582. While doing a rear brake job I noticed a component on the hard line and has a bracket attached to the rear end housing tunnel then it goes to the flex line. What is it, not on any Mustang I have ever worked on. Looks familiar but not gonna guess.

You could also be referring to the rear proportioning valve. It is brass about 3 inches long and 1/2inch in diameter. If so, West Coast Cougar has them and rebuild kits.

I was wondering that too... can you (the original poster "428cj6v") post a photo of the part you're asking about?

In Coralsnake's image the fitting that points straight up is were the vent hose for the differential attaches.

Since he wrote it was on a hard line and has a bracket attached to the rear end likely not but just in case here is a close up (have better pictures - just one that was already up loaded in my gallery)  just in case

One note for those reading in the picture Coralsnake posted the "flex line" hard to confirm that is a rubber style line and not sure what the red label or jacket is

So this doesnt go down the toilet as fast as the question was asked... Welcome to a new owner, hope you stick around for a long time. Dont let some others responses ruin a new relationship. We are not ALL like that , maybe a few pics if you are able. CONGRATULATIONS on your ownership.

I wasn't involved in any of that (except for reading) and I thought it was hilarious!  I guess these days I appreciate a little humor, even if residual . . .
