You could also be referring to the rear proportioning valve. It is brass about 3 inches long and 1/2inch in diameter. If so, West Coast Cougar has them and rebuild kits.
Yep, thats it, bracket attached to the rear end tunnel. A proportioning valve? Looks like a residual valve. Then what is the part the Master Cyl is plummed to? Just a metering block? Other Mustangs, that is where the fluid pressure/flow to the drums is decreased.
Since he wrote it was on a hard line and has a bracket attached to the rear end likely not but just in case here is a close up (have better pictures - just one that was already up loaded in my gallery)  just in case




One note for those reading in the picture Coralsnake posted the "flex line" hard to confirm that is a rubber style line and not sure what the red label or jacket is

Thanks for the welcome. Been with LASAAC and COCOA for years. Gotta take some ribbing if ya want to learn. Been looking for a year or so. It was a choice between a 68.5 cj or a GT350. Found this one in my price range. It is a unrestored, unmolested, one repaint, manual, 4th owner car. It currently has a hot 289 in it and the original HiPo is on a stand. Looks like all pieces are there. Again, Thanks for the welcome.
