I thought it was the 69 Shelby T/A Boss that went into the crowd at Michigan during the first race of 69. This was supposedly the "Death Room" at Holman Moody where they stored race cars that people were killed in or by in the case of the Boss.

The front end damage was more extensive IIRC.

Here's a pic of that unfortunate Kwech crash at the Michigan Trans-Am May 11th. '69.

Looks like a '66 GT350 got caught up as well.

It looks like the AMC was involved in it as well but it has what looks like Hub Caps.  May have been parked in the In-Field?  It also looks like the black Car on the Right that is really crunched looks like it too has Hub Caps.

I thought the damage was more on the left side than the photo shows . Obviously the photo is better than my old memory. I stand corrected. I know the Kweck car was at H&M because a friend bought some of the suspension pieces from it after it was field stripped. I personally saw the Miles GT40 and Les Ritchey Mustang outside in a fenced area next to the hangar used for storage .including GT40 body panels ( with yarn tufts) and the HUGE Turbine powered semi truck. Huge boxes of casting patterns as well. The rack in the picture was there too but no cars were on it in '77 when I was there.
Now that I think about it the Follmer car went to Bud's "out back" where it was purchased by Richard Rodeck years later as a wrecked tub.

There are other pictures that show the GT350. It did not get hit, just covered with mud. One of the guys with the AMC was a dealer and was killed in the crash. Supposedly the Boss is still around and stashed away.

Cool picture! You don't see much on the Gran Touring Cougars. Have any more?

A few more - no more engine shots tho.

These are all courtesy of Dennis Andrews, son of Grand Touring driver Wayne Andrews.

Wayne drove for Shaw Racing Enterprises. Reid Shaw bought two Cougars off of Bud Moore - one is believed to be an ex-Trans Am Cougar, the other was a dedicated NASCAR Cougar.

1109RWHP, thanks for your clarification ! I should have been more clear in my description with that photo of the Kwech Mustang after the crash  Head knock

That weekend in Michigan '69 was cold and rainy, it even snowed at one point ! Kwech got blocked by another car on the wet and slippery track and went off into the parking area, the GT350 and the Javelins were not in the race, they were spectators cars.

Here's another image of the Mustang, this crash, and the big one six races later at St. Jovite Quebec race, I was there for that one, that basically destroyed  all four of the Shelby and Moore cars, really put the Fords behind, and cost them the '69 season.

Here's another photo of the Moore Cougars from '68 to go with the ones not seen before posted by propayne, I believe these were called "Baby Grands"
