Dateline 04/12/2018 Russell C. Evans passed away earlier this week at the age of 74. This was due to cardiac complications brought on by diabetes.
Russ leaves behind his wife Marcia, son Alex, and daughter Bess.
Folks from the former Northern Illinois Shelby club will remember him as a board member, Carroll Shelby fan, anything Ford powered fan, and a enthusiast of fast cars.
Russ had owned a LaSalle, a 62 406 Galaxie, a 69 Mach I, but will be best remembered by his Competition Orange 69 GT 500. Could he make the GT 500 scream around the Elkhart Lake Wisconsin road course during the Northwoods Wisconsin Shelby club events.
Russ was also an expert model car builder and slot car racer.
Godspeed my friend!
I'm sorry to read this.
Praise to those that can run Elkhart Lake as Russ did.
I didn't know Russ but people should not think Diabetes isn't incredibly dangerous.
Watch your Heath and know that Diabetes is an epidemic.
Sad news. I would have been honored to meet him.
Nic, I think you have. If the photo-thing was fixed I would have posted a picture.
Sad news. My condolences to his family and friends.
I remember Russ well from the open track events at Road America and Blackhawk. I always picture him behind the wheel of his silver BOSS 351.
So sorry to hear of his passing. I do not know of him or his family, but like many here have experienced this type of loss. My prayers to all.
Dennis
Condolences to the family.

That remindes me: Russ had his silver BOSS 351 at the Dearborn SAAC 14 convention where it won a Popular vote award. He also had a 65 Mustang GT fastback, 289 A code 4 speed car.
Yes, more of a driver than a car show-er guy
