Title: Tire size larger than 6.95 x 14
Post by: kram350 on March 27, 2018, 09:42:35 PM
Was there any tire size considered early on for use with the 14" wheel other than the 6.95 x 14 Goodyear Blue Streak?

I came across what appears to be an advertisement for the '66 GT350 that has a rather large tire mounted on aluminum 10 spokes, appears not to be a Blue Streak, no raised letters, totally black sidewall but has a raised band running the circumference.  Wheels have Crager center caps. White car, 66 side stripes with blond standing at the "A' post, dirt road with trees in background. Can't download picture, sorry.

As far as 14 inch tires go the Blue Streak was the only one used on regular production cars.

Not that I'm aware of or have seen documentation of.

For all please don't use ad and magazines as a basis of restoration or historic accuracy without supporting documentation from other sources

The early press photos show what looks like a 7.75x14 tire. 6.95x14 was used on production cars.
