CSX 2008224 viewsThis is CSX 2008, a very early 260 Cobra that was rebodied by Ford in 1962, and became the Styling Concept car known as the "Cougar II". The car still looks like this. In 2004, I was able to bring the Cougar II and Bordinat Cobra out of hibernation to be displayed at SAAC 29.

CSX 3001216 viewsThis is CSX 3001, the first coil-spring Cobra. The car was delivered without a body to Ford Styling, where it was fitted with a custom one-off body made of Royalex plastic. Known as the "Bordinat Cobra" and also the "XD Cobra", this car was a stablemate to, and shared many common styling cues with the earlier "Cougar II" Ford styling concept car.

Cougar II69 viewsThis is how I found the Cougar II - tucked away in a plastic bubble in a warehouse. Too bad they hadn't puit it in a bubble years earlier - the suspension and undercarriage were pretty nasty with rust.cobrajeff

Cougar II73 viewsRear view of the Cougar II. Many people say it resembles a Corvette StingRay in the rear - however, this concept car was built before the StingRay was introduced.cobrajeff

Cougar II75 viewsThe Ford "Cougar II" styling concept car. This car is actually CSX 2008, reskinned by Ford Styling with a one-off fiberglass body. It had a HiPo 260 in it, and still is shod with it's orignal Goodyear BlueStreaks.cobrajeff

Engine in Cougar II81 viewsThis is what's left of the 260 HiPo engine in the Cougar II concept car. The engine was "decommissioned" years ago.cobrajeff

Tripower36 viewsFord tripower system on my '72 Pantera. The carb spacing on this set-up was the same as a Mopar - so I had a new base plate with Mopar spacing made up to mount the "Group 2" Cougar aluminum air cleaner that i ran on the setup (I removed the "Cougar" letters, and that cat turned into a Panther).cobrajeff
